Motor won’t run
Hand turning of coupling is smooth
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Failure with motor wiring and electrical equipmentContact the construction contractor and check the wiring status and electrical equipmentMotor failureConsider repairing or repurchasing the motorCoupling bolts not installedAfter checking the rotation direction with motor, install the coupling bolts and start up the pumpReverse rotation of motorRemove all coupling bolts and check the rotation direction of the motor itself.

Liquid is not pumped

Abnormal noise from the casing
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Possibility of cavitation (boiling phenomenon)Check the valve opening, suction height, and vacuum level of the equipment.

Abnormal noise from the shaft seal
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Insufficient lubrication of mechanical sealStop the pump and check the flow rate and pressure, and then turn the coupling by hand several times. Contact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us”, if the situation is not improved. -
Abnormal noise from the bearing case
Slight noise at 1 meter from the pump
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Hand turning of coupling is smooth when the pump is stopped.
・Insufficient lubrication or Contamination of dust
・Pump running with Insufficient bearing loadIt is no problem if the sound is clear. It may be a temporary noise due to insufficient load on the bearing or contamination of dust. In case noise getting bigger, please contact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us”.Big noise at 1 meter from the pump<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Hand turning of coupling is not smooth when the pump is stopped.

<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Failure or malfunction of the mechanical sealStop the pump and check the leaking condition by hand turning. Contact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us”, if the leakage is not stopped.Difference in pumping liquidCheck whether there are any change to the liquid specifications from the order. Bearing Case
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Abnormality of the sealing part of the bearing case (leakage of lube oil)If the pump is operated as is for a long period of time, it may malfunction. Stop the pump immediately, and contact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us”. -
Wetted parts (casing, suction cover)
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Abnormality of the casing and the suction cover(Corrosion, Erosion, etc.)If the pumping liquid leaks from the defective part, take first aid measures using a special putty or others. And contact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us” for repair or replacement. -
Fitting part of the casing, suction cover
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Sudden change of liquid temperatureThe mounting bolts of the pressure part may stretch and loosen due to thermal expansion. After the liquid temperature rises, retighten the bolts (hot bolting). Refer to “Operation and Start-up” in the instruction manual.Malfunction of the gasket or O-ringContact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us”. -
Motor

Flange
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Defective or deteriorated the gasket or O-ringReplace the gland packing with a new one.Uneven tightening of the bolt/nutStop the pump, loosen the bolts/nuts of jointed part, and then retighten them evenly.
Overheating

Overheating of wetted parts (casing, suction cover)
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Rotating parts (impeller,etc.) are in contact with other partsDismantle the suction cover and check pump inside. If any contact is found, contact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us”, to request repair the pump or replace the partsThe flow rate is too high or too lowCavitation (boiling phenomenon) may occur.
Adjust the discharge valve towards the specified operating point.The discharge side is in a shutoff condition.Shut-off operation may result in pump damage.
Adjust the discharge valve towards the appropriate flow rate/pressure. -
Overheating of the sealing parts
Overheating of the gland packing
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Over tightening of the gland packingUntighten the adjusting nut and adjust to the proper amount. Refer to “Operation and Start-up” in the instruction manual. Contact the supplier or access Honda Pumps Web Site “Contact Us”, if the leakage amount cannnot be adjusted.Insufficient of the flushing water pressureRefer to the “Utility List” submitted by the supplier and adjust the pressure/amount of flushing water to proper level.Insufficient leakage amountAdjust the leakage to the appropriate amount.Overheating of the mechanical seal<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Dry running (The sealing face does not be filmed by sufficient liquid)Vent the air sufficiently.
Make sure that air is not sucking into the pump during operation.(Dry running may cause the seal damage).Insufficient of the flushing water pressure/flowRefer to the “Utility List” submitted by the supplier and adjust the pressure/amount of flushing water to an appropriate level. -
Overheating of the bearing part (Bearing case)
Heavy vibration
<Possible cause> <Countermeasure> Deterioration of the lube oil, Contamination of water, etc into the lube oilReplace the lube oil.(Recommended interval : 500 hours after starting operation and every 6 months thereafter)Installation failureRefer to “Installation” in the instruction manual.
